Are you too curious?

Are you too curious?  Is that even a thing? Will you cross that bridge to find out what is on the other side? I would! I am a very curious person.  I always ask why, how and what.  I want to know how things work, why things happen and if it’s possible to make it better.  Now, this does get me into “shinny object” syndrome sometimes.  And… my love for all things new and curiosity about how thing work can get me in trouble sometimes.

Last night, I was “curious” why one of the kids I saw was not on the ice.  Remember, I live in ice rinks.  This time it was speed skating. Most people would wait and ask the parent quietly later on when he was not around.  Not me… I leap right into asking him “why are you not on the ice?”  He responds with.. ”um.. uh..” and his parent jumps in to explain that he was not skating this year.  Open mouth, insert foot.  That is how...

New LinkedIn User Interface

Uncategorized Feb 13, 2017

Do You Have The New LinkedIn Experience?  I don't... but thankfully I was working on a clients profile today that had it. Love my clients!

LinkedIn is gradually rolling out their desktop new User Interface (UI) – It’s Clean, Simple and Awesome.  Minus a few fabulous features that have been taken away. I do love the new look.  If you haven’t yet glimpsed it, this article will prepare you for the changes to ensure a smoother transition when the new UI arrives on your desktop.

Here are a few features that have been completely removed:

  • View Profile As button. Now what you see is the same as what your 1st connections see (minus your edit buttons) Public profile still remains as you have set it.
  • 30% larger profile photo for Premium members. Profile photos are now the same size for all members
  • Export Profile to PDF
  • Relationship Module (CRM, notes, callback dates, etc.) - very sad about this one!!
  • Additional (Legacy) Honors & Awards;...

Be custom

Uncategorized Aug 09, 2016

When you created your profile with LinkedIn, you were provided a URL that you could point people to your public profile online.  Your public profile is what people see when they to to this link and they are not logged into LinkedIn.

The importance of having a custom URL for LinkedIn (or any social network) shouldn’t be underestimated. Especially for anyone who wants to promote their profile, by adding their custom URL/web address to their email signature, business card, marketing materials, etc.

The URL (or web address) assigned to you by LinkedIn is not easy to remember and share, in print or verbally.

A custom URL will help to increase the overall visibility of your LinkedIn account and will make it easier for you to share how to find you on LinkedIn.

Most of us would find this custom LinkedIn profile URL – – more professional looking and easier to share with others, as opposed to this address –...

Stand OUT - with a great headline

Uncategorized Aug 03, 2016

Your LinkedIn headline is valuable real estate and may be the only part of your profile that a potential client actually looks at. Don't do what everyone else does and just use your title/employer for your LinkedIn headline. BORING. Use all 120 characters of your LinkedIn headline to show undeniable proof that you are credible and unique in a good way.

It is your key opportunity to make a positive first impression and entice the reader to want to know more. It’s important you get it right. But how do you go about doing that? What keywords or terms should you include in your headline? What things should you avoid?

You need to include these very important things:
What you do, who you help and how you help them.

It should communicate your expertise, your field, and why you’re special. But it also should be eye-catching. No matter what your LinkedIn goals are (networking, getting hired, establishing credibility or expertise, recruiting), standing out is a good thing....

Business Mindset

Uncategorized Aug 01, 2016

Let’s be honest… how much time are you spending on other Social Media platforms every day? Let me guess. Probably too much ;-) Don't get me wrong, I check them daily as well, but when I do, it's usually a social thing, to participate in a group, see what my colleagues, family & friends are up to.

This is one of the biggest differences between other Social Media channels and LinkedIn. The mindset. On Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, etc. people are in a 'social' mindset, whereas on LinkedIn, people are in a business mindset. They log in to create professional business relationships and find content, solutions & information to advance their career or business.

If you're putting off being active on LinkedIn because you aren't sure what to do, you are in the right place.  Starting with mindset.  For the next 30 days, you will learn how to use a different aspect of LinkedIn to build a professional profile, increase your professional...

A Recipe for the Potential of Possibilities

Uncategorized Jun 14, 2016

What happens when one incredible company purchases another?

The result:  A recipe for an amazing future!  Microsoft and LinkedIn already share a very important mission…  “Helping people work more efficiently”.   The possibilities are endless.

I am excited about the future for LinkedIn and in my opinion, what it will do is increase the value of LinkedIn.  We are all speculating on how it will be used to connect other platforms together.

Just think…

Calendar integration opportunities, embedding LinkedIn with Skype, increased email opportunities and the addition of a suite of sales, marketing and recruiting services to its core business products.

And not to mention the most important opportunity… CRM (Customer Relationship Manager).  A CRM system is about leveraging and managing relationships. I already use LinkedIn as my CRM system.  What better way than to integrate Microsofts’ systems with...
